The 7th Gaon Chart Music Awards were held on February 14, celebrating achievements in the music industry in the past year!
The annual award ceremony took place at the Jamsil Arena in Seoul, with many popular K-pop artists receiving awards. It was hosted by Super Junior’s Leeteuk and TWICE’s Dahyun.

In the quarterly physical album category, BTS won both the first quarter award for “You Never Walk Alone” và the third quarter award for “Love Yourself: Her.” They were unfortunately unable to attend due to lớn a prior commitment. The second quarter award went khổng lồ SEVENTEEN’s “Al1,” và Wanna One’s “1-1=0 (Nothing Without You)” won for the fourth quarter.
IU took home the most awards this evening, as the singer-songwriter won the Artist of the Year award in the monthly digital music category in both March and April, as well as the Long-Run song of the Year Award and Lyricist of the Year Award. The Fave Entertainment production team behind her album “Palette” also won the Album Producer Award.

The sixth annual Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards were held in Seoul on Wednesday night (Feb. 22), handing out awards lớn 2016’s best-selling artists in South Korea.
The awards show highlighted the ongoing trend where male K-pop idol groups dominatealbum sales thanks khổng lồ fervent fandoms, while female acts and ballad singers lead digitalsales and streaming due to lớn their appeal lớn local audiences.

Twelve acts were named artist of the year based on monthly digital sales và streams, including girl groups GFRIEND, Mamamoo, TWICE, Sistar, the now-defunct Wonder Girls and BLACKPINK. BIGBANG was the only male K-pop act khổng lồ merit the award for their efforts in digital music, a nod to the band’s overwhelming popularity. Although the categories at the awards ceremony broke things up, the Gaon Charts previously announced Wings as the overall best-selling album of the year, while TWICE’s “Cheer Up” was the most popular single.
K-pop groups NCT 127 & Blackpink were each named rookie of the year, while alt-R&B artist Dean, rapper Bewh
Y, indie group Bolbbalgan4 & ballad singer Han Dong Geun each received the discovery of the year award.

Kies were recognized in a variety of lesser categories, while Charlie Puth & Maroon 5 were awarded for their popularity in Korea.
The production teams behind several popular K-pop acts were highlighted at the awards ceremony too. Lyricist Jo Yun Gyeong was highlighted for her creative work with Taeyeon, EXO and NCT 127, while composer black Eyed Pilseung received that category’s award for his work with TWICE & SISTAR.
BTS’ nhanlucnhanvan.edu.vn record-breaking Wings album also garnered recognition, with Big Hit Entertainment’s Bang Shi Hyuk receiving the producer of the year award và their choreographer Son Seung Deuk taking trang chủ the style of the year award for the group’s choreography.
