This miniseries is like a little drama snack. At just three episodes, there’s no extra fluff as each episode hits every plotpoint deliberately & there’s no dragging out of lies và intrigue. It was anadorable story và I could have stood if it was a shorter full length series, say 11 episodes or so, but sometimes it’s nice lớn be able to lớn sit down andfinish a story in one sitting. In this sense, it felt more lượt thích a fleshed outmovie than a show.

Kim So Hyunis an actress I’m already impressed with, showing off serious talent at such ayoung age (She’s 14!!! OMG. She’s ten years younger than I am.). I loved her in
The Moon that Embraces the Sun và while I didn’t finish I Miss You, her roleleft và early impression. Sun Woong is a new face for me, which is notsurprising as he’s only been in 2 shows including this one và he’s 22 (aka WAYTOO OLD FOR So Hyun, but you won’t think so just watching the show). Either way,he is a talented dancer & actually shockingly pretty for a guy. The two werewell cast và well matched, playing off each other easily.

Even if itdidn’t work perfectly, I still liked the new twist on the gender bending usual. The cross dressing girl to boy is played out (see You’re Beautiful, Hana Kimi,Nail shop Paris, etc.), but this is the first time I’ve seen a show playing upthe other side. As uncomfortable as it was for his character, Sun Woong reallyembraced it & did it well. Still, seeing him in his Irene getup for the firsttime really had me zeroed in on all the reasons I could see he was a guy. Eventhough his face is pretty enough for a girl, the broad shoulders were a deadgiveaway, he’s really tall, no hint of an hourglass, Adam’s apple, & let’snot forget good ole man hands. All that said, not all girl’s fit one type, soif I didn’t know ahead of time, I’m not sure what I’d think. Either way, it’s abold choice & I like it.

Ok. Howoverly ridiculous was Tae Joon? It successfully paints our Hyun Woo in a muchbetter light, but I think it was just a spoonful over the top. That’s not eventalking about the tín đồ clubs, whose obsessions were downright stereotypical, without much character building. I’d say the only bright spot allowed was theleader of TJ’s fan club, when she gets the chance lớn swoop in and help Geu Rim,even after making her life a little bit miserable.

Some of thepremise of this story you have lớn take with a grain of salt. As in, even in theextreme situation that Irene gets Hyun Woo much needed work, there’s really noreason for him to lớn go to lớn school as her. I mean, couldn’t he just go as himselfand then change into his garb when he gets lớn the studio? I’m not sure whosebright idea that was, but it only served to make it harder for him lớn come outas himself when the time came. Also - *spoilers ahead* - why on Earth would hewait a whole year khổng lồ tell Geu Rim what was going on? She already knows thesecret, so why not pick up the phone, say I’ve been found out, I’m taking abreak from school, but hey want to lớn catch a movie sometime? It just didn’t makesense. I’m glad they fixed it up quickly, but it was certainly surprising.
If this showhad one major flaw, it was how poorly Geu Rim was lip syncing when she wassupposed to lớn be singing. Her voice was obviously auto-tuned into next year. I’mwilling to lớn forgive this egregious error, since the actress is so good.
So… if you’relooking for a quick watch of a light romance, this one is perfect. It’s notoverly cheesy, while still being sweet. Something I was still in the mood forafter my Love in Tokyo excursion. It’s a slightly original twist on a usualstoryline that’s just pleasant và fast khổng lồ watch.

What really caught my attention before watching this drama was the fact that this was not a usual girl dresses as boy gender-bender, but that the boy disguises himself as a girl this time. I loved the comedy and the characters, as well as how most of them progressed throughout the drama. It"s a really refreshing story. Although its short, I loved the progression; while others might argue it was rushed. The fact that the main character is so young really amazed me, I had no idea how old she was until after I finished watching Ma Boy, she does a great job and her acting skills are superb. This is a very cute và light-hearted drama, and I will definitely be re-watching it sometime in the future, và recommend it khổng lồ anyone looking for something short và sweet.

Watching this drama và rating it would depend on one"s mood and/or liking. In my case, I was in a mood for a low-key-rom-com drama which does not require me to think too much. Ta-da! Ma Boy was perfect. I couldn"t help myself from smiling from one episode to lớn another. I may lượt thích the drama but of course it is far from being perfect. There are scenes that made me want to lớn cringe & fast forward due to unnecessary airtime of mischief but since this is supposed to lớn be a light story... I sucked it all in & enjoyed the whole show for what it could offer. Be reminded that this is a high school gender bender story where Boy Dresses up as a Girl while Girl keeps his secret for him. It"s light, funny & cute. Not khổng lồ forget that the boy is really good looking và dances so well. Music wise, as per young k-pop idol themed drama - you already know what to expect... But wait! There"s more. The drama may be light but the characters has their own story to tell. Thus making this drama more interesting than what the plot line let"s us perceive. I also lượt thích the fact that the young actors và actresses suits their role. Who wouldn"t fall for the plain looking girl paired up to lớn pretty boy scenario without the perfect casting? Even the mean trio of male/female fans for each idol was the right fit. I couldn"t imagine anyone else being casted for the roles, including the main ones.I am surely recommending this for those who"s craving for something light, cute and funny to watch.
