Bạn đang xem: Discovery of love tập cuối

Discovery of Romance is a 16 episode năm trước Korea Drama about a past love impacting a present day love.

Synposis. A woman is caught between two loves – her past love who has unexpectedly resurfaced & her current love. Who will she choose?

Nutshell Pluses:1. Discovery of Love was a good series. The strength of the series were the first two thirds (episodes 1 – 11). The writing was sharp and the characters crisp as a past relationship was explored in present day.2. Eric, lead actor, was charismatic. I watched this show for Eric. He delivered. His character started strong but was stymied in the latter third of the series spending his acting talents having khổng lồ emote nonverbally.

Nutshell Minuses:1. The writer, Jung Hyun Jung, did not provide a story substantial enough for the series. The latter third of the series (episodes 12 – 15) dragged as the couple that needed to lớn breakup dithered about getting this done.2. If you wanted to lớn see the primary couple happy & in love, the extensive flashbacks khổng lồ their past relationship was the only way you could. The present day relationship solidified in the last 2 minutes of the final episode. Finally this couple could unleash the magic they had.

What I liked about Discovery of Romance:

* Eric (Kang Tae Ha), male lead, makes this show worth the price of admission. He was the heart và soul of this show. Eric portrayed Tae Ha as character that grew and evolved from a selfish man to a self-sacrificing man. It was refreshing and delightful lớn see him smile or grin and get the girl! Their banter in the final scene was fantastic. Finally we got khổng lồ see a happy interaction between Tae Ha và Yeo Reum. I watched this series for Eric. I believe he did everything he could but his character’s hands were tied behind his back for many episodes effectively downgrading this compelling character to lớn faithful, patiently waiting, loving man. Que Sera Sera was the first & only drama I had seen Eric in before this role. He và Yu mày were a compelling couple in that show và their acting together again was the second reason I watched this series. In the end, Que Sera Sera provided Eric the better role. I hope lớn see him more, this series proved to lớn me his acting ability was real. I appreciated his fine portrayal of Tae Ha. I adored watching Eric on screen.

* Jung Yi mi (Yeo Reum), female lead, delivered the mercurial Yeo Reum with a committed performance. Yeol Mae was a difficult character to lớn love, even like. She had her own way. Control in a relationship was important to her. She & her current boyfriend, Ha Jin, played control games with each other. Their relationship was never a great love. It needed to over but Yeo Reum wanted to lớn save the relationship. Her reticient lớn reenter a relationship with Ta Ha was understanding in the beginning. As the show progressed it was obvious that Ta Ha was not the same man. Yeo Reum let fear of failing again with Ta Ha and duty to give her current relationship block her path lớn happiness for 99.9% of the show. Yi Mi’s acting partnership with Eric worked again. They were dynamite in Que Sera Sera and when given opportunities they delivered for Discovery of Romance. For Yi Mi, Discovery of Romance was the better bigger role. Yi mi also was the leading lady in I Need Romance 2012 (see review) also written by Hyun Jung.

* Kim Seul Gi (Yoon Sol), female friend, was a scene stealer with a comedic flair & heartfelt performance. She was a supportive friend to lớn Yeo Reum. But her story was great in it’s own right. I loved it when she had 3 men vying for her afffection. Her frankness about her past support of Ta Ha was refreshing. It was her friendship with Joon Ho that transitioned to romance that was a highlight of the series. Seul Gi was a standout in Flower Boy Next Door & she was a highlight in Discovery of Romance. I’d love to lớn see her in a bigger role. She delivered a believable character with a wry humor.

* Yoon Hyun Min (Joon Ho), male friend, was a scene stealer with terrific facial expressions & performance that pushed the envelope but not go overboard on the comedy. He ended the series strong forcing Yeo Reum to see that she wanted Ta Ha và needed to go after him. His realization that he liked Yoon Sol and his often hilarous attempts to move them out of the friend zone was one of the highlights of the series. In addition, Joon Ho was a terrific friend to Yeo Reume & Ha Jin.

What I disliked about Discover of Romance:

* Sung Joon (Ha Jin) portrayed a character that impeded the love choice I wanted for so long, I wanted to lớn jettison this character off the planet. Unfortunately Sung Joon’s performance was not endearing or able to make the character work for me. Don’t get me started how he hid his identity from his long-lost orphanage friend, A Rim, or how he lied to Yeo Reum about this friendship.* The writer, Jung Hyun Jung, did not have a strong enough story for 16 episodes and denied viewers the star crossed pairing until the last 2 minutes of the show. Both of these points irritate me greatly. Hyun Jung has a pattern of a) prickly women leads, Yeo Reum qualified; b) unrealistic & kind guys, Ta Ha qualified; c) vital close friends, Joon Ho & Yoon Sol qualified; and d) past loves trumping new or current loves, Ta ha & Yeo Reum were past loves to lớn each other. Plot point fail – It was silly that Tae Ha và Yeo Reum dated in the past was a big secret everyone kept from Ha Jin. I’m fine with Hyun Jung’s self-references in the story, most writers do not insert self promotion in their stories. She took the opportunity to bởi so by referencing a book titled “Discovery of Romance” with the reveal that the writer character Jang wrote the book & performed the interviews woven into each episode. That was smart.

Highlights of Discovery of Romance (I love series with published episode titles):Episode #1: “How Did We over Up Sleeping in One Bed Together?” Tae Ha và Yeo Reum meet after a 3 year gap as she spies on her boyfriend Ha Jin on a blind date (set up by his mother). They accidently switch cell phones. The meta moment when he pokes a drunk Yeo Reum’s forehead just like their characters in Que Sera Sera was slick. When he takes her to lớn his house I saw the sizzle between these two. The next morning they both wake in the same bed. She is horrified. He is pleased. Love this picture of Eric…the man is hot!Episode #2: “Will You Break Up with Him and Come Back khổng lồ Me?” We start khổng lồ get the back story on Tae Ha’s và Yeo Reum’s relationship. Interviews were used each episode & were a clever device the writer used throughout the series. In this episode, when Tae Ha & Yeo Reum are interviewed, she gets irritated by his responses và enters his frame lớn smack him on the head. An artful and funny moment.Episode #3: “Can’t Help it if You Think it’s Jealousy” This episode had two swoon moments for me. First, Tae Ha tells Yeo Reum “I have never forgotten anything about you from the beginning lớn the end”. Wow, that is a ego boost lớn be told you are unforgettable. Second, Tae Ha asks Yeo Reum “Stay with me for one more day” on their first island visit. My answer would have the same as hers – yes.Episode #4: “You lượt thích Han Yeol Mae?” Tae Ha and Ha Jin have 2 games of pool where they are really battling about their mutual interest in Yeo Reum. After the first game of pool that he loses, Tae Ha recognizes he is at a disadvantage. Khổng lồ even the playing field, he hires a professional pool player to tutor him. I never tire of two men wrangling over a woman. At this point I vì not dislike Ha Jin.Episode #5: “Confession You Will Regret Tomorrow” With a raw, heart on the sleeve confession, Tae Ha admits he likes Yeo Reum. He describes his feelings as intense, painful and desperate. He notes the person that likes other person more, has more pain. Yeo Reum later takes great pleasure in rubbing her current relationship in Tae Ha’s face to hurt him. I strongly disliked Yeo Reum for that spiteful choice.Episode #6: “Unless the sky falls, I will never go back lớn you” At a karakoe bar, a very drunk Tae Ha và Ha Jin sing a song together. They don sequin jackets. Ha Jin wears a silly wig. Ha Jin puts a horse head on Tae Ha. Much lớn the amazement of Yeo Reum, they declare themselves brothers. I have seen many karaoke scenes but I had lớn stop watching for a moment as I laughed myself silly.Episode #7: “It is your first crush” Yeo Reum catches Ha Jin & A Rim together outside his office. The scene was staged well. There was a sense of suspense if Ha Jin and A Rim would be caught. It was the first chink the armor for Ha Jin as Yeo Reum realizes that he has been hiding his relationship with A Rim. Tae Ha relished the moment và I did too!Episode #8: “It’s not romance, it’s war” Yeo Reum and Ha Jin have a battle of wills lớn see who will reach out first as they go through a period of not speaking with each other because of his relationship with A Rim. The fact that Yeo Reum caves when the fault was Ha Jin’s, bothers me. It obvious this couple’s idea of love involves power & control before tenderness. I reject this và want them lớn break up.Episode #9: “I said ‘I Love You’ a Hundred Times” Jung Mok and Joon Ho both date Yoon Sol who is still getting over former friend Eun Gyu. At the coffee shop, Yoon Sol sips her latte, and foam remains on her lip. The tuy vậy “That Man” from Secret Garden swells (recall Secret Garden has the iconic foam on the lip scene). Too funny! Both men stare at her transfixed. Perfect insertion of a kdrama cliche scene, just perfect!Episode #10: “Let’s Break Up”: Tae Ha shows the evolution of his character when he sacrifices his wishes for what he thinks is best for her. Tae Ha tells tells Yeo Reum “Let’s break up” (show’s title). He admits he never knew why they broke up so he never got over her. That has changed now. He wishes her well. Tears brim in her eyes. She cries as he walks away. He does too. Beautifully scene by Eric.Episode #11: “Staring out of the window several times a day”: A game to guess the song, album, và track takes Yeo Reum and Tae Ha back khổng lồ their shared memories. Yeo Reum stares at Tae Ha willing him to look at her. He slowly lifts his eyes to her. It is riveting the intensity of their locked gaze – wow! Yeo Reum gets 2 more questions correctly remembering their past. As Yeo Reum walks away she thinks “I want to tell him at least once that I have not forgotten the good memories.” The situation moves me. I feel for Tae Ha with the emotional punches he is taking. I feel for Yeo Reum as she is pulled back to lớn him but unable khổng lồ break away from Ha Jin at this moment. It is poignant.Episode #12: “The day that love comes into my heart” : Tae Ha and Yoon Sol drink to work out their differences. They remember how he used to carry her home when she got drunk. Yoon Sol tells Tae Ha that he is their past’s dark secret. Yoon Sol admits she wanted he and Yeo Reum to work out. But he shattered her dream of finding a realistic love. She claims no matter how drunk she gets he will NOT carry her home. Cut to lớn Tae Ha giving Yoon Sol a piggyback. LOL!Episode #13: “Should I act drunk and just kiss you?”: Finally Ha Jin finds out that Tae Ha and Yeo Reum dated in the past. In her bedroom, Ha Jin spies the memory box under the bed. He pulls it out và opens it up. He find the photographs of Yeo Reum’s past relationship with Tae Ha. Yes, it took 13 of 16 episodes to lớn reach this point. The stretch of this plot point was tough to lớn take as the series progressed.

Episode #14: “Did You Just gọi Me a Bitch?”: Yeo Reum asks what Tae Ha’s birthday wish is. He wishes that he could be her so he could know what was going on in her heart. Why does she cry around him? Why does she have pictures of him on her camera? Yeo Reum asks what he would bởi vì if he found out what was in her heart.Tae Ha: If my guess is correct, (he takes a step towards her), I have khổng lồ hold your hand and go as far as I can go, as far as we can go. I like you. I want you. I vị not want lớn send you to lớn any one else. Stay with me tonight. Just take one step towards me. Swoon alert!Episode #15: “Will They Love Again?”: Yoon Sol has all three suitors visit her at the studio. Joon Ho thinks “all three men that lượt thích Yoon Sol are gathered. What an unfortunate fate.” LOL! Yoon Sol tells them that she will tell them her decisions. Choi Eun Gyu learns that Yoon Sol appreciates his friendship and at one point she liked him & now he likes her. Their timing is off. LOL on the heart monitor flat line sound! Jung Mok learns that he is a kind man but Yoon Sol will not build a relationship when her heart is not fluttering. LOL on the heart monitor flat line sound! Episode #16: “There is no love that does not end”: FINALLY…our couple gets together! The writer toyed with the viewers throughout this episode until the last 2 minutes when our couple said the words and shared the kiss that made this series sweet enough. Their reunion was dangled just of out the viewer’s reach as we slowly & slowly got closer throughout the episode. No, no, I was not bitter that I only got 2 minutes of the couple.

There’s no use in hiding feelings anymore. Everyone is caught up, & everything is out in the open. Through an emotional mess of revelations and confrontations, the members of our love triangle take some significant steps & missteps lớn assert what their hearts want. Though it may seem lượt thích a final battle between the two men in Yeo-reum’s life, the decision is ultimately hers. She may be selfish and ambiguous lớn a fault, but if anything, she knows what she wants.

EPISODE 14: “Did you just gọi me a bitch?”

*
*

We see Ha-jin opening the box of nostalgia in slow motion, and his face immediately falls when he sees the unexpected. He picks up the memorabilia — the photos, the wooden ring, letters — & the anger và shock on his face build up as he hits the realization that Tae-ha and Yeo-reum were past lovers. Unable khổng lồ take any more, he quickly shuts Pandora’s Box & shoves it back under the cabinet, but his mind is still racing.

Yeo-reum goes about her morning routine and puts on her engagement ring all while Ha-jin is confirming her deceit. He calls Joon-ho out to lớn talk & confronts him about Tae-ha and Yeo-reum’s relationship. He assumed she’s had past relationships, but the problem is that it’s Kang Tae-ha.

*
*

Joon-ho immediately defends Yeo-reum & tells him lying was his idea. Everything’s in the past, so there was no good in Ha-jin knowing anyway. He claims that even with the contract work, there are no lingering feelings. But that doesn’t address Ha-jin’s main problem with this: “The three of you fooled me. Everything that didn’t make sense then makes complete sense now. Hyung, you were watching by the sidelines, and you’re supposed to lớn be my friend.”

Being the loyal friend, Joon-ho continues to lớn convince Ha-jin khổng lồ believe in Yeo-reum. “You và I both know that Yeo-reum’s committed to lớn you. What more vì you need? Are you going to break up with her just because her ex is Kang Tae-ha? If anything, Yeo-reum is someone who knows what her heart wants. If she had any lingering feelings for Tae-ha, bởi vì you think she would have accepted your proposal?”

*

Ha-jin thinks back khổng lồ his proposal & cools down a bit. He admits that he knows she loves him & that they’re not on terms lớn easily break up. But she has a box. “I’ve been thinking about all the possibilities of why she has that box, but no matter how I think about it, I can’t understand.”

The box is news lớn Joon-ho, and when Ha-jin explains its contents, he changes loyalties. It kills Ha-jin lớn try to understand, but he really (understandably) can’t. Joon-ho asks what he’s going to vì about it, and Ha-jin replies with a sinister look in his eye, “I’m thinking about it now.”

*

As Tae-ha gets ready for work, he thinks back to Yeo-reum’s lifelong wish to build a chair she really loves. He goes lớn ask Director Yoon — who’s snuggled up under Tae-ha’s covers — for any company & convention documents regarding furniture. As they’re about lớn leave he gets a text from Yeo-reum asking for any resources on the “modern French style” interior. He smiles and Director Yoon notes the similarities between the two workaholics, working even on a weekend.

Yeo-reum prepares breakfast with Sol, who voices her worries. After hearing about her wavering because of Tae-ha, it was disconcerting that Yeo-reum didn’t come home last night. Lớn make her friend even more unsettled, Yeo-reum proposes the extreme. “What if I did cheat? What if one day I slept with Tae-ha and asked you to lớn make an alibi for me? What are you going to vì chưng then?” Sol turns serious and tells Yeo-reum lớn never do something lượt thích that.

*
*

But Yeo-reum remedies the makjang hypothetical with what she really means. “Of all the things I said to lớn you, the only thing you remember is me admitting to faltering because of Tae-ha. You don’t remember me saying that I love Ha-jin. The only reason I stay by Ha-jin’s side is because I love him.” Still unsure, Sol asks if she’ll go khổng lồ Tae-ha if she changes her mind. “Of course. I can’t leave the person I love & live with Ha-jin lượt thích a shell.”

Sol gives her a bewildered look & calls her a terrible complicated person. Yeo-reum acknowledges her complexity và asks Sol to recognize it as well — not just assume the worst because of one thing she said. Joon-ho và Ha-jin return, claiming to lớn have gone on a bro date, so Yeo-reum cheerily prepares food while Ha-jin’s stoic face goes unnoticed.

*

At the office, Tae-ha researches chair designs, & Director Yoon hauls in some documents. Director Yoon hadn’t realized that Yeo-reum had won a national furniture design contest và wonders why she didn’t continued that work six years ago. Tae-ha explains that after she’d won, her father passed away, she broke up with him, và also quit her job. She’s regrettably undervalued for her work.

Director Yoon then asks about what their relationship was like. Based on their current interactions, they must have been a quarrelsome couple. Tae-ha thinks back and admits to lớn being a strange couple. “We fought a lot, we both had a temper, and we were both selfish. But we were strangely compatible.” Director Yoon just gives him a sympathetic look.

*
*

During breakfast, Ha-jin’s clearly in a dreary mood, but only Joon-ho seems to lớn show a particular sensitivity. Matters only worsen when Yeo-reum picks up a hotline from Tae-ha at the table & purposely tries lớn use honorifics lớn maintain her cover. It’s another typical argumentative conversation between the two, but not anymore from Ha-jin’s perspective.

Ha-jin leads — more lượt thích drags — Yeo-reum out on an excursion, which seems like a date, only he’s got the same somber look on his face the whole time. He’s distracted by the memories of all the coincidences between Tae-ha và Yeo-reum, so he’s clearly not enjoying his time on his robotic date. At the concert venue, Yeo-reum stops him so she can go to the bathroom, where she takes off her heels to some painful scrapes on her feet. She thinks lớn herself about Ha-jin’s weird behavior and knows something’s up.

*

When she returns, Ha-jin tells her that he’s not in the mood for the concert today, so they head home. He seems khổng lồ have noticed her feet, as he prepares a bucket of water, but he leaves her to take care of it on her own. Ha-jin calls her over & begins khổng lồ put ointment on her feet, admitting that he knew about her scrapes. He asks why she didn’t complain as usual, while she says that she expected it was some sort of punishment, so she let herself be punished.

He replies with some pointed words, asking why a selfish person lượt thích herself would let that be. “If it were any other day, you would have made the situation more advantageous for yourself. You’re the type of person who can make tears fall in front of me.” He’s angry, but his actions say otherwise, as he continues lớn tend to her foot.

*
*

Those hurtful words noticeably affect Yeo-reum, and she asks what the problem is. He’s surprisingly straightforward & tells her about the box. “I saw some of its contents & resisted my urge lớn see more. I was going to let it slide, but I can’t vì that. You two are too close. If you’re done with him, you should have gotten rid of the box!”

Shocked speechless, all Yeo-reum can get out is a mere apology. “I’m sorry.” That triggers all the memories of Yeo-reum apologizing to lớn Ha-jin, and he tells her that she’s been apologizing quite a lot ever since she’s reunited with Tae-ha. She explains that she doesn’t even know the contents of the box and just lost the timing to lớn burn it. Then she apologizes again.

She profusely apologizes và says that he can keep some distance from her if he wants, but Ha-jin tells her khổng lồ stop. He tells her that she should say that they’ll stick together even through fights, và she repeats those exact words on request. She adds on that she’ll drop any further work with Tae-ha after this project.

*
*

Yeo-reum brings in her furniture designs for Tae-ha the next morning, và he quickly flips through them in disapproval. He tells her these are copies and that he’s seen these designs before — she whipped them up years ago at work. He reminds her that their contract allows her khổng lồ be more innovative và expensive with materials. Aware of what she’s capable of, he pushes for furniture that clearly has her character in it. Even when she comes to him khổng lồ get her new designs checked, he flatly tells her that she should know if they’re her best designs.

So she works all night, eventually falling asleep on the company couch. Tae-ha silently looks through her designs with approval and crouches by her side. As he tucks her arm into the blanket, he notices her ring, a flashing reminder lớn keep his distance.

*
*

A call from Ha-jin wakes her up in the night, but she instinctively addresses the caller as Tae-ha. That clearly upsets Ha-jin, but he politely clarifies that it’s him and tells her to get some rest. A long silence ensues, và they struggle to kết thúc their conversation. Ha-jin (voiceover): “I couldn’t get myself to lớn say ‘I love you.’ Is this just one of many days we have together? If we get through it, will it pass?” Yeo-reum (voiceover): “If dating was a storyline, where would we be?”

Ha-jin eventually musters enough strength khổng lồ tell her “I love you,” and she echoes him. But as soon as they hang up, he admits that for the first time, he told Yeo-reum that he loves her without actually meaning it. He wonders if this is the case for other couples, if they get through tough times by saying but not actually meaning those words. He wonders if Yeo-reum is having his same thoughts và wallows in his distress.

*
*

The next morning, Tae-ha and Yeo-reum grab a PPL breakfast at Subway. He customizes her order because he knows she doesn’t like olives, and they discuss the progress of the project. Yeo-reum says she’s been working so long that she’s lost track of what day it is, and when she checks her phone she realizes it’s Tae-ha’s birthday. She doesn’t mention it, but she admits lớn us that she’s remembered this day every year.

Ha-jin performs surgery on Ah-rim’s arm and checks on her afterwards. He notices her downcast mood, và she explains that she didn’t realize that this was such a quick procedure. She wonders why she waited twenty years to get rid of her scar. Changing the subject, he gets updates on her study abroad plans. He’s about khổng lồ grab her hand but stops himself và leaves with a friendly smile.

*
*

Tae-ha’s employees celebrate his birthday with a cake, và Yeo-reum joins in the celebration, only to realize it’s for a different employee. She catches Director Yoon before he leaves & asks if they don’t know Tae-ha’s birthday, and he says that Tae-ha’s not one to lớn make a fuss about his birthday so he only knows it’s sometime in winter. Huh…

Ha-jin advises Ah-rim on her study abroad choices and generously gives her an extra account for any expenses. She cautiously asks if she can keep in cảm biến with him through mail, and he responds positively. A migraine suddenly hits, and Ha-jin grabs for his pills. Noticing this, Ah-rim offers to lớn send him an audio recording from her trang chủ that calms her when she’s troubled.

*

Later that night, he gets a text from Yeo-reum promising lớn be back that night. That text is followed by one from Ah-rim with the audio recording. It’s a simple recording of crickets chirping, but that’s enough lớn relax him into a sound sleep.

Tae-ha & Yeo-reum wrap up their kiến thiết work, và he hands her an extra mix of documents khổng lồ look through. He wants her to lớn pursue some other work than what she’s doing now — art furniture. “Ever since your father died, you’ve come khổng lồ a stop. Your dream just remains a dream.” Yeo-reum asks why he’s doing this, & he gives an honest answer. “I regret not being better to lớn you, understanding you more, và loving you more when I dated you. I’m sorry. I don’t have much else to vì chưng for you.”

*

Then he jumps back into work discussion, & after a moment, Yeo-reum does as well. She checks her watch & notices that its ten minutes before midnight. Giving him some pictures from the site lớn look through, she excuses herself khổng lồ prepare something. As Tae-ha looks through the camera, he discovers pictures of himself, in fact, multiple pictures that Yeo-reum took of him while he wasn’t looking. Just as he’s trying khổng lồ figure out what khổng lồ feel, the lights turn off, & Yeo-reum walks in with an impromptu snack cake with a candle.

Back down memory lane, we see Yeo-reum & Tae-ha happily celebrating his birthday. As a gift, she gives him personalized coupons: sleeping in, being late, no nagging, kisses, a sizzling night (rawr). Yeo-reum then interviews him with her faux hand mic & asks what his wishes are. They’re sweetly all about her. Seeing her more, earning more money to lớn build her a studio, và hoping she wins her furniture competition.

*

In the present, Tae-ha blows out his candle, and Yeo-reum interviews him the same way, asking what his wishes are. After some thought, he tells her. “I want to become Han Yeo-reum. So that I could know why you waited for me, why you cried, and… why there are pictures of me in your camera. Because I know you’ll never tell me, I want khổng lồ become Han Yeo-reum & figure out what her heart is saying.”

Her secret almost exposed, Yeo-reum falters & asks what he’ll bởi when he finds that out. As he takes a step closer, he tells her, “If my intuition is right, then I’ll take your hand and go with you until the end. I still like you. I still want you, and I don’t want to send you to lớn anyone else. Stay with me. You just need to lớn take one step closer.”

*
*

Clearly torn but wavering, Yeo-reum avoids eye contact as tears stream down her face. She comes khổng lồ her senses and grabs her bag to lớn leave. “I can’t go to you. At the very least, because of my father, I can’t. If I vì that khổng lồ you… Don’t ever shake me lượt thích this again.” She takes her leave, & Tae-ha lets her.

But as she walks away, she thinks to lớn herself about how she wishes she could take Tae-ha’s hand and follow him. “I’m afraid these feelings won’t change anymore.” With this realization, Yeo-reum’s legs give out và she crouches down in tears. She looks distraught, và from outside, Ha-jin witnesses her bawling.

He walks in và demands to know why she’s acting like this. Tae-ha enters the scene khổng lồ return the camera but hides it as soon as he sees Ha-jin, who hands Yeo-reum the car key to lớn drive herself home. These two are going to have a talk tonight.

*
*

Back at it with the soju, Ha-jin tells Tae-ha that Yeo-reum won’t be working with him on any future projects. Tae-ha argues that it’s not his decision to make, but Ha-jin puts his foot down và takes his leave. Naturally, Tae-ha spits out some stinging words, “You must not have confidence in Yeo-reum. You’ve got nothing on her.” That stops him in his tracks, & he grabs Tae-ha up by his collar.

Despite Ha-jin’s threatening tone, Tae-ha continues, “You love Yeo-reum, but she loves herself. All you need is her by your side, but she’s not one to be satisfied or happy with someone by her side. You don’t know what dreams she has and what she’s given up. That’s why you won’t do.” That’s enough khổng lồ provoke Ha-jin to lớn throw a punch và instigate a fight.

*
*

As Yeo-reum arrives home, she’s met with Joon-ho, who’s just gotten off the phone. He scolds her for letting this situation happen, and we see that the two guys are at the police station. The bar owner complains that these two are always fighting when they’re at her place and asks if there really is only one girl in this world. Ha.

The investigator asks the two about what happened, but the bar owner steps in to lớn knock some sense into the guys with some irony: “This doctor hit & hurt people, và this construction company president crushed my store. Get yourselves together. What’s so great about love? There are people struggling to make a living.” Well, there’s some perspective for ya.

*

As Tae-ha leaves the station with Director Yoon, he passes by Yeo-reum. They hold eye contact even as he goes down the stairs và until she’s faced with Ha-jin. They don’t exchange any words, and Joon-ho breaks the silence by noting that he’s been to the police station too often recently.

When they arrive back home, Joon-ho leaves the two to talk, but looks back at them in worry. Ha-jin demands to lớn know why Yeo-reum was crying. This is the second time he’s seen her lượt thích this with Tae-ha, & he’s not letting this slide. In her mind, Yeo-reum wonders about naturally growing apart. “Does such an ending exist in this world? If it does, then I’d lượt thích to have that sort of parting.”

*

With that thought, she takes off her ring, leaves it on vị trí cao nhất of the dashboard, và exits the car. Shocked, Ha-jin grabs the ring và follows her out. He puts the ring back into her hands & asks her not to vì chưng this, almost begging her. She looks at him and confronts the issue: “Let’s stop doing this. Let’s stop fighting. It’s obvious that we’re eventually going lớn separate.”

Ha-jin argues back that she doesn’t know if they’ll end, but she begs to differ. She’s convinced that they’ve reached rock bottom, và the end is near. He says that he can go even lower, but she doesn’t want to: “How much lower do we have to go? How much more vì you want lớn get hurt by me? vày you think I’ll feel good about that? How much more vị you want khổng lồ hate me? Why vày you want khổng lồ continue on an obvious path lớn the end?”

In disbelief, Ha-jin mockingly asks how she knows about romance so well and where she learned this. & finally, Yeo-reum tells him, “Kang Tae-ha.”

Though he already knew, that catches him off guard, & Yeo-reum continues, “We’ve reached rock bottom. We can’t go any lower.” She returns the ring, which slips through his hands and falls lớn the ground. Ha-jin looks pained as he hits the realization that they’ve reached the end.

As Yeo-reum walks back into the house, Joon-ho waits by the door, having heard the whole break-up. He calls out lớn her, “Han Yeo-reum, you’re a bitch.” Oof.

Tae-ha chugs beers sitting up against his refrigerator in the dark, & Ha-jin broods in front of Yeo-reum’s house, staring at the ring in tears. The pain isn’t exclusive lớn the guys, as we see Yeo-reum also crying alone.

In her interview, Yeo-reum reveals her feelings, “Joon-ho’s right. I am a bitch. But who other than Kang Tae-ha & Nam Ha-jin can call me that?”

Snaps to lớn that. She’s right. Who other than her two lovers can gọi her that? She implicitly acknowledges the wrongs she’s committed lớn both men in her life và knows that these are the only two who have some — if any — rights to hotline her that. It’s a profound message she’s sending & one that even I need to reflect upon. I recall calling Yeo-reum a bitch in a previous recap, & I feel bad and want to apologize for using that word so lightly. Though her actions were manipulative & calculating, it’s true that, as observers, there’s some disconnect we have regarding the weight of that word. And Yeo-reum makes it very clear that it’s heavy, hurtful, và definitely something that should be used sparingly.

All in all, a great episode for our exes but not so much for Ha-jin. But I feel that he was somewhat consistent with his character, in that he’s always lacked a certain complexity that Yeo-reum has when dating. As a person, he’s a very interesting character, & though his relationship with Ah-rim is a bit frustrating và dull, it’s still sweet và genuine. With his relationship with Yeo-reum, however, he’s quite flat & simple. I wanted something more out of Ha-jin after he found out the contents of the box, but he just ended up disappointing me. He’s a far better person than that person who punished Yeo-reum by intentionally putting her in pain. He admitted to being the asshole who put her through that, but he could have dealt with this situation much better. There was something very superficial about how he confronted Yeo-reum and resolved the issue about the box. It was not genuine at all, & something that could have been a point of growth for the relationship just felt uncomfortable.

And this superficiality could be the reason for why their relationship fell through. They learned to lớn distrust each other and to never give each other the benefit of the doubt. All the remedies for their relationship problems were temporary. It was only a matter of time until one of them called it quits, and that person was not going to lớn be Ha-jin. It was upsetting khổng lồ see him trying khổng lồ get through the final argument — his expression changing in a flash from anger to shock to lớn desperation — because we know và he knows that he’s on the losing over of this relationship. He’s got much more to đại bại because of how much more invested he was. Though I’m disappointed that their relationship fell through without enough opportunities for Ha-jin to lớn have a say, it was necessary.

Seeing the interactions between Tae-ha và Yeo-reum in this episode confirmed my tư vấn for them. It’s the small things I notice that stick out lớn me, like Tae-ha knowing Yeo-reum’s exact sandwich order or Yeo-reum wanting to lớn prepare a snack cake for Tae-ha’s birthday. They still remember the small details about each other, which is a definite sign that they care. & while Yeo-reum continues khổng lồ deny that she actually does, I’ve got khổng lồ give it to Tae-ha for being so patient and particularly concerned with Yeo-reum’s personal dreams. Of course he wants her lớn come khổng lồ him, but he ultimately just wants her to lớn be happy and fulfill her utmost potential. I loved the moment when he realized Yeo-reum’s feelings because he finally saw the possibility of his love being reciprocated. Even after letting himself be vulnerable by professing his love và taking his step forward, he respected her boundaries & cautiously asked her to vì chưng the same. So swoon-worthy.

So the question is, what now? It’s Yeo-reum’s turn khổng lồ take her step forward. She’s been caught in the act of opening her heart to lớn him, & it’s time that she embrace it. Going into finale week, I’m hopeful that she will.
